Motto in My Life

By Helen An-Le

A motto is important in one's life. It gives him courage, warmth and self-confidence. It is a beacon when he is in darkness, a navigation mark when he has lost his way in the sea, and a delicious meal when he is hungry.

It was a very hard time in my life when I was in Grade III, Senior Middle School. However I had a strong belief in my favorite motto: "Study hard and you'll make progress every day".I wrote down this motto on the cover of my book and put it up on the wall beside my bed. What is more I buried it deep in my heart.I repeated it when I felt tired, sad, and discouraged. This motto guided me to my goal and accompanied me all the time till my final exams. Finally I succeeded in the national examination for college enrollment. At the thought of stepping into the gate of my university in a couple of weeks, I am very grateful for this motto.

During the present English Training in the past week, I have fallen in love with another motto- "Love makes the world go around". Global Volunteers showed their love to us by their sincere and generous action.Their service also tells us what love means.I believe that the human world will become more beautiful if everyone offers a little bit of love to others.I am determined to follow the shining example of Global Volunteers and show my love to the poor and those who are in need.

Mottos are the condensed wisdom of millions of people who helped make our history.Mottos are very important in our life if we want to accomplish as much as possible in our limited lifetime.I will collect and learn as many mottos as possible in the future.
